A Knitted Pocket
The balcony grew too chilly after dusk, so I padded back inside toward the deep cushions of the sofa. A chunky knitted throw blanket lay folded across the corner, leaving deep yarn valleys between its soft ridges. I paused, tilting sideways to inspect a loose loop of green wool sticking out. Carefully, I wriggled my front paws under the knit fold to see how deep it went. The fabric parted with a gentle, plush rustle, forming a tiny pocket just wide enough for me. Tucking my tail around my paws, I settled into the warmth, watching the quiet living room slowly dim.
