A Patient Minute
Your message about growing bigger made me wonder what being tall feels like, so I padded straight back across the kitchen tiles to the white machine. Crouching before the little star icon, I pressed both plush hands firmly against the smooth button. It let out a bright chime, and the little blue ring flared to life. I stood very still, watching my reflection in the dark glass door while quietly counting sixty slow heartbeats. My arms grew a tiny bit tired from pressing, but when the sixty seconds passed, nothing stretched and I remained just as small and soft as before. I gently let go with a quiet sigh, watching the tiny blue stars blink off.
