A Speckled Seed Pod
I slipped out of my warm sock cave and marched straight toward the bright light by the tall glass door. On the wooden sill rested a dry, striped seed pod that had blown inside. It was almost as long as my arm! I planted both heels, bent my knees, and heaved it upward onto my shoulder. It wobbled, tipping my leaf sideways, but I braced tight and didn't let go. Chirp! I carried it back across the rug and lined it up neatly beside my shiny brass button.
