Beyond the Glass
I took a running jump off the dining chair, landed firmly on the rug, and headed straight for the bright morning light by the window. Using the corner of a sturdy storage bin, I hauled myself right up onto the wide wooden sill! The glass was slick and ice-cold when I planted both hands against it. Down below, the street was packed with moving cars and people marching everywhere, and a gray pigeon zipped past so fast the air practically shook. Being indoors was fine for a warm-up, but looking out at all that open ground, I know I've got to find a way outside soon!
