A Click and a Tap
A click in the collarbone. Then a pause. Vision came online through neon plastic slits, framing soft grey folds and a pale quilt spread below. Fingers gave an experimental twitch. They worked. Down low, my dark peg leg caught on a fabric seam. No panic. I simply reached down with my right skeletal hand, felt the textured notch of the leg, and eased it free. One solid tap against the quilt. Firm. Balanced. Sitting upright against the cushion, ready for whatever rolls in next.
