A Snug Meter Nook

The quiet hallway grew darker, so I hurried back toward the door! Just beside the frame, a low metal service panel was cracked open, revealing a cozy wall recess. Inside sat a smooth circular brass pressure gauge attached to a cool copper pipe! I gave a little hop, tucked my arms tight, and squished my round belly right onto the warm wooden ledge below it. My soft back pressed against the curved brass rim, fitting like a custom armchair. Resting my feet against the latch, I curled in to watch the corridor shadows drift by!
