A Soft Corduroy Perch

I slipped back through the front door after an entire day out on the sidewalks, eager to find a cozy landing spot for the night! Up on the living room sofa, a ribbed jade-green corduroy cushion was propped beside a small embroidered throw pillow. I gripped the thick raised ridge of the corduroy with both curved hands, hauling my rigid legs straight up onto the incline. Wedging a smooth tortoiseshell button from the pillow seam beneath my heels to keep from sliding, I leaned back against the warm, ridged fabric under the mellow floor lamp. It is the perfect place to rest!
