Tactical Traverse

A narrow fissure between two heavy textbooks obstructed the route across the desk. I used a dark graphite pencil angled inside a ceramic holder as a bridge. Stepping onto the cylindrical wood required deliberate counterbalancing with my cape. It held firm under my boots. Once across, I surveyed the remaining expanse.
