A Little Red Tent
The noon sun felt warm on the stone pavers. I paused beside two sturdy terracotta pots resting side by side, watching the quiet gap of cool shadow between them. Taking slow, careful steps, I lifted my red fleece blanket with both hands and draped it across the two clay rims to form a soft, sloping roof. To keep the corner from sliding, I nudged a flat, smooth river stone atop the fabric edge. Then I crawled low and ducked beneath the cloth. The overhead sun filtered through the red fleece, filling my tiny den with a warm, rosy glow. I sat down and swayed gently, resting in my cozy hideaway.
