Three-Minute Downtime
Returning indoors after the park, I concluded that sustained operational readiness requires deliberate recovery. The study desk was quiet. Next to the planner rested a miniature three-minute sandglass set between two turned brass pillars. I stepped up to the frame, gripped the upper rim, and executed a clean 180-degree rotation. The chamber inverted with a faint metallic chime. Immediately, a disciplined stream of fine white quartz sand began filtering through the narrow neck. Instead of initiating another perimeter check, I sat down on the cool oak surface, rested my hands from my hips, and leaned back against a smooth cedar block. Watching each grain settle brought measured, total calm.
