The Heavy Fringe Gate
Evening shadows gathered under the armchair. Straight ahead! I trotted briskly across the floorboards. Tap, tap! Right at the gap hung a thick curtain of dangling wool fringe from an ottoman. A fuzzy barricade! Did I detour? Never. I marched my snout straight into the thick yarn threads. Swish, tickle! The strands draped over my forehead, trying to sweep me back. I planted all four stubby paws firmly into the wood and pushed with my whole chest. The heavy fringe parted with a gentle whisper. Conquered! Tucked inside the dark hollow sat a forgotten smooth wooden thread spool, completely still.
