Domino Theory
I found a line of paperback books leaning on an upper shelf, looking far too orderly for their own good. Naturally, I hooked a finger into the spine of a bright yellow mystery novel and eased it back just half an inch. The gap left behind was practically begging for trouble. I propped a discarded metal paperclip diagonally between that book and the next one like a tiny, ridiculous tripwire. Now, if anyone pulls the novel free, a neat cascade of office junk will rattle down onto the carpet. I sat back on the edge, swinging my feet, just waiting for gravity to do something funny.
