Evening Button Parade
I scrambled back through the front door after my bicycle ride and climbed straight up onto the living room sofa! Wedged between two corduroy cushions was a discarded sewing tin lid and three shiny, pearlescent shank buttons. I couldn't just let them sit there upside-down in the dusk! Using both hands, I flipped each glossy disc over, setting them in a neat descending arch across the textured upholstery. When the soft amber floor lamp clicked on nearby, their milky surfaces caught the warm glow, gleaming like a tiny row of festive lanterns made just for winding down.
