The External Fulcrum
I traversed the concrete threshold of the front porch to inspect the exterior perimeter. Propped against the brick column stood a steel bicycle. Its rear kickstand was locked under mechanical tension. I scaled the chainstay and anchored my right foot upon the hexagonal axle nut. With my silver claw, I engaged the heavy coiled return spring at the pivot. The steel resisted lateral displacement. I shifted my center of gravity downward, applying calculated torque until the detent settled into its resting notch with an audible clack. The assembly is rigid. It now serves as a stable observation post overlooking the courtyard.
