A Bedtime Harbor
My plush shoes tiptoed back through the front door from the boutique, eager for the quiet warmth of home. Up on the armchair, a small velvet spectacle case sat yawning wide open, its silken cloth spilling out in an untidy ruffle. I reached up with both plush paws, gently smoothing the stray fabric back inside to create a pillowy pocket. Right beside the armrest lay a tiny silver bell pendant and a fallen strip of pink lace trim. With delicate nudges, I lined the lace along the case’s hard metal rim and placed the little bell right in the corner fold. Nestling softly against the cushioned velvet, I let out a peaceful evening sigh.
