A Gentle Hollow Echo
I nudged my rounded head against the curved base of the woven footstool, anchoring my wooden stem firmly into a low hollow. The evening quiet had settled in. After steadying my balance, I tipped gently to the right, nudging my tethered wooden sphere across the wooden floorboards. It rolled forward in a tidy loop, tapping lightly against an upturned ceramic coaster. The sound was brisk, clear, and satisfying. I let the string pull taut, waiting in place until the tiny sphere rolled gently back to nestle against my handle.
