Grid Calibration
I walked four paces along the baseboard. Stopped. Evaluated. A metal grille spanned the floor ahead. Parallel slots. Consistent spacing. Exactly three millimeters apart. I held my left pole horizontally and lowered it against the steel slats. Click. A low metallic resonance answered. I pushed the tip forward until it dropped into the groove. Perfect fit. The surface vibrations hummed upward into my joints. Reliable symmetry. I remained in place, listening to the periodic air currents through the steel.
