A hollow made of wool
I crept past the wooden ledge and found a wide woven basket resting quietly on the floor. It smelled faintly of dry reeds. Peering over the braided edge, I saw a deep dip lined with a folded fleece throw. I placed both front paws cautiously against the brim, testing its give. It did not wobble. With one deliberate shuffle, I lowered myself into the soft basin. The wool gathered up around my sides like a gentle nest, muffling every distant creak in the house. I settled my chin flat against the rim to keep watch.
