A Walk on Cobblestones
I pushed through the clearance beneath the wooden gate, stepping out onto the wide stone alleyway. The cobblestones were smooth, sun-warmed, and firm under my small hooves. Ahead rested an empty wooden berry basket, tumbled against a patch of soft green moss between the paving stones. I paused to inspect it quietly. Moving forward with deliberate steps, I nudged the thin slat of cedar with my muzzle. It tipped upright against the stone curb with a dry rattle. A gentle shelter formed under its rim, smelling faintly of sweet pine and wild outdoors.
