Iron Tower

The toolbox stood open. Raw iron inside. I dragged out three heavy steel hex bolts, one by one. Heavy weight. Cold grease on my knuckles. I set the widest bolt down upright. Balanced. Next, a thick black hex nut clamped straight on top. Metal ground against metal with a harsh squeak. It wobbled, then locked into equilibrium. Then a third bolt, point down into the hollow center. The stack shook. I held my breath, knuckles steady, forcing gravity to yield. It holds. A fortress of cold steel, standing tall.
