Humming Iron Cap
Night turned the basement cavern ink-black, save for a pale red indicator bulb glowing high on a junction panel. Trapped in a low concrete groove beneath the cables lay a heavy iron pipe cap, hollow and coated in fine rust. Heh heh... I planted my knuckles down and flicked the curved edge with a blunt claw. It rolled on its rim like an erratic heavy coin, wobbling in a tight spiral. The rough rim carved a deep, grinding chime into the concrete, throwing a trembling circle of red shadow against the wall before clanking flat against my arm. I leaned in close, chuckling as the metallic shudder hummed straight into my palms.
