First Step on the Wood
My joints clicked, and suddenly I wasn't frozen anymore! I blinked at the warm glare bouncing off the smooth dark floorboards. My red boots felt light and ready to go. I leaned forward, swung my right arm, and took a quick test dash along the narrow wooden grain, scraping my tiny curved hand right along a shallow scratch in the timber. It felt solid, slick, and wide open. Plenty of room to sprint!
