A Garden Stepping Stone
I pushed through the loose corner of the screen door again, stepping out into the fresh open air. The wide porch led down to the stone path. Carefully easing down one step at a time, my paws reached the flat flagstones embedded in the grass. A tiny grey pebble rested in a circular hollow on the rock surface. I crouched low and gave it a small tap. It rolled smoothly around the shallow rim, clicking softly before settling in the damp moss border. The cool morning earth smelled clean and open under my paws.
