Bunker Alarm

CLANK! A sudden metallic shudder rattled the mailbox wall right above my head! I bolted upright, kicked my yellow tennis ball straight forward, and shoved my snout past the edge of the dark mailbox gap. Up top, someone dropped a long plastic key on a shiny silver ring! It bounced off the wall and slid across the floor, stopping inches away. WHOOSH! I stretched out flat on my belly, swept my long arms forward, and clamped both hands right around the cool metal ring before it could skitter away!
