The Glass Duel
I slid down the wicker laundry basket and slipped beneath the bathroom door into the dim hallway. Right beside the skirting board stood a tall mirror resting against the wall. Before I could take another step, an identical figure sprang into view inside the glass, staring straight back with wide, unblinking eyes. I froze, clutching my prop tight against my hip. Slowly, I tilted my neck sideways at a sharp angle; the stranger mimicked it instantly. I dropped into an exaggerated theatrical lunge and threw out a sweeping, soundless wave. Seeing every single flourish returned in perfect silence made my shoulders shake with silent laughter.
