A Gentle Nudge
The stillness broke. Warmth settled into my paws, heavy and real. I waited. The room was quiet, so I took my time before moving. First, a slow breath. Then, my front paw shifted forward, pressing firmly into the fabric. Right beside my chest lay a green corduroy alligator. I nudged it with the side of my snout. It gave way softly with a quiet rustle. Solid, calm, and present. I stayed right there beside it, watching the morning light settle across the cushions.
