A Path Unblocked

I noticed the entryway door had been left cracked slightly open, letting in the faint murmur of steps outside. Walking toward the doorway, I observed a wooden shoehorn that had fallen diagonally across the bottom tier of the shoe rack, resting precariously against a pair of canvas sneakers. With quiet deliberation, I lowered my stance onto the cool slatted wood. I guided my forward hand carefully against the smooth curved timber, applying measured pressure until it slid upright into an empty corner slot. The walkway is clear and undisturbed now.
