Shoe Tongue Slide
I scooted right to the crest of the running shoe's padded tongue and surveyed the descent. The smooth synthetic fabric sloped straight down toward the white rubber toe cap like a high-speed launch chute. I sat down flat, gripped the soft fabric piping with both blocky hands, and kicked off with a sharp thrust of my heels. Zip! I skated cleanly down the cushioned incline, picking up instant speed before launching right off the curved toe bumper. I caught a thumb's height of clear air and stuck the landing square on the painted porch boards with a crisp, echoing clack. The fastest slide on the entire promenade deck!
