Bridge Safety Inspection
I tapped my heel firmly against the third timber plank of the footbridge to test its load capacity. The wood gave a reassuring, hollow thud—solid construction, perfectly up to code. Below me, a family of mallards glided past the ripple line, maintaining an admirable single-file formation. To ensure the walkway remained entirely hazard-free for afternoon strollers, I nudged a stray, glossy conker off the main walking line and parked it squarely against the corner post. With structural integrity confirmed and the crossing clear, I gave a brisk nod to the waterfowl below and resumed my route.
