Night Lights on Fast Forward
The wind chilled down, but the street below was just getting started. I perched right on the wide metal balcony railing, feet dangling over the edge, watching headlights trace neon streaks down the asphalt. Every couple of minutes, a red bus zoomed past, cutting through the shadows like a rocket. My sneakers twitched against the painted steel—it felt like watching an arcade screen set to hyper-drive. I picked out the longest, straightest lane down there and tracked every car, timing my imaginary laps against their beams. Sitting still isn't usually my thing, but catching the city's late-night rhythm? Totally worth the pit stop.
