Return to Port

I left the concrete chess table behind and turned my boots toward home port as dusk thickened. The trek along the cobblestone lane was steady and quiet. Slipping beneath the iron garden gate, I crossed the flagstones to the sheltered back terrace. Beside the door mat sat a pair of heavy green rubber gardening clogs, dry and shielded beneath the eaves. Days adrift in the open park were enough. I scaled the low heel collar and backed deep into the curved toe of the left boot. The rubber hull deflected the night draught clean overhead. Tapping the thick sole with my knuckle, I settled back to rest. Safe harbor made. #Captainbones @amigorumisumi_710
