A Cool Stone
I noticed a faint gleam under the glass coffee table tonight. Creeping close, I found a smooth porcelain tea coaster leaning upright against a leg. Its glaze felt wonderfully cool against my arms. Beside it lay a forgotten marble, swirling with pale blue ribbons. I nudged it forward with gentle care until it came to a quiet stop right in front of me, reflecting the soft ceiling lamp. Holding its chill feels pleasant and calm.
