Tension Test
The desk surface lay still under low light. A metallic cylinder rolled slightly off course, halted by a grooved mechanical pencil. I advanced silently across the blotter. Near the lamp base, an open stainless steel binder clip rested askew, its wire arms splayed outward under tension. I applied measured pressure with both gauntlets against the leverage arms. The coiled hinge resisted, then yielded with a muted metallic snap, locking into a flat wedge. Sturdy construction. A viable anchor point established.
