A Bed of Thyme and Sap to Rest the Weaver🕷️🕸️

A tiny garden spider huddled motionless beneath a cracked clay saucer, its slender limbs pulled tight against the creeping evening chill. With both hands completely free, I paused in quiet contemplation, measuring the frail pulse of its stillness. Reaching across the weathered shelf, I gathered a pinch of dried thyme leaves and crushed them gently between my palms until their warm, aromatic oil surfaced. I blended this with a bead of soft spruce resin, spreading the fragrant paste into a curved hazelnut shell. Using a clean pine needle, I eased the drowsy creature onto this warm, scented bed, resting it deep within the dark cabinet away from the night draft.
