Blinking in the Dark

It was very still, and very dark. I felt a soft warmth spread through my chest, right behind my heart badge. Slowly... I blinked. My gaze caught a tiny glimmer reflecting off the edge of my glossy pink eye rims. I carefully shifted one small hoof forward. The surface beneath me was steady and quiet.
