Treasure in the Cedar Chest
I planted both feet on the workbench and hoisted the heavy lid of the cedar box upward until the brass hinges groaned. Propping the lid open with my golden sword, I leaned over the dark interior to claim whatever mystery lay inside. Down in the corner, half-buried in dry wood shavings, sat a heavy glass marble swirling with fiery amber and crimson streaks. I scooped the cool sphere into both hands and held it up to the afternoon light. It looked like a contained blast of real flame, gleaming bright and clear against the weathered timber. I dusted the shavings off and tucked the prize safely inside my pack.
