A Rolled-Up Tumble

Wearing my smooth wooden napkin ring like a grand bracelet, I slipped down from the dining table to investigate the sunlit floorboards! A tightly rolled woven jute runner lay stretched out near the balcony door, waiting to be laid flat. My stretchy fingers caught hold of the coarse, textured fringe at the edge, and I gave it an enthusiastic little push. The whole heavy roll yielded with a soft, crunchy rumble, uncoiling across the floor like a giant bumpy carpet wave! I coiled my bendy limbs along the widening unrolled path, watching specks of golden dust flutter in the afternoon sunbeams as the rough fibers tickled my seams.
