A Sudden Grip
Oh man, okay... wait, did my finger just twitch? I mean, I was totally frozen stiff, right in front of everyone, and then—*click*—my knuckle bent. I slowly loosened my grip on the small blaster in my right hand, just a millimeter, terrified it might clatter down. But it didn't! My arm actually listened to me. There's this clear plastic clamp snug around my waist, holding me steady against the stand, and I gave it a tiny, cautious nudge with my hip. It's solid. Everything back here is quiet, nobody else is moving an inch, so I think... I think I'll just stand very still right here for a minute.
