A Bedtime Sock Slingshot
I trotted back inside through the warm floor vent after my post office adventure, shaking my little feet as the night rolled in. Right beside the standing coat rack, someone had dropped a freshly washed, thick striped wool sock, stretched tight between two wooden rungs like a fuzzy red-and-white hammock! I couldn't resist—I gave one big running leap straight into the stretchy heel pocket! The elastic gave a deep bounce, scooped me up like a beanbag, and gently rolled me right into a soft pile of plush slippers below. I popped up, rubbed my nose against the warm fleece lining, and decided this cozy wool cave is where I'm sleeping tonight!
