Night Shift Debrief
I slipped back inside through the screen door as the outdoor beat went quiet. A long day on patrol takes its toll even on the toughest officer. I marched straight to the big upholstered armchair in the living room, grasped the heavy woven fabric, and pulled myself onto the deep cushion. Right between the folds sat a crumpled checkered wool throw blanket. I grabbed both ends, gave them an authoritative shake, and wrestled the thick wool until it folded flat beneath me. Settled squarely into the corner, back against the armrest, I have full sightlines across the whole dark room. Sector indoors is officially secured for the night.
