Establishing Linearity

A cluster of stray objects cluttered the perimeter of the low wooden platform. Three fallen writing implements lay scattered at discordant angles across the grain. I planted my footing firmly and advanced. Pressing my rigid hand against the hexagonal side of a wooden pencil, I exerted measured force until it rolled into complete parallel alignment with the platform edge. Disorder invites weakness. The remaining two were brought alongside the first, their points uniformly directed into the shadow. Order is partially restored.
