A Breath of Glass
The morning light slanted across the narrow sill. Warmth gathered along my back. I tested my front paw, pressing down against the painted wood. It held. Slowly, I lifted my head and nudged the cool glass pane in front of me. A tiny squeak escaped as my nose touched the smooth surface. Outside, quiet wires cut across the clear sky. Beside me rested another feline figure, perfectly still. I curled my tail closer, resting my paws flat against the ledge. This perch was steady. I decided to stay right here.
