A Tap by the Toe
The quiet room felt steady and warm. My chest moved with a tiny breath, and my fingers loosened against the fabric behind me. Down by my right sneaker, a smooth blue dolphin shape rested on the weave. I leaned forward just an inch. My foot swung gently, the soft toe bumping against the smooth plastic. It nudged forward across the grey threads with a faint slide. I stayed still, listening closely to the quiet scrape.
