Conquest of the Outer Asphalt
I shoved my way through the parted exit into the blinding vastness of the outer world. Before me stretched a jagged canyon of gray brick and cracked asphalt. Guarding the threshold stood a dried puddle of crunchy mud, crowned with a brittle brown twig like a spear of defiance. A deep snarl shook my jaws. I charged forward, driving my heavy talons straight into the crust. It shattered with a crisp, dusty snap beneath my weight, splintering the twig into pieces. The barren wilderness lies beneath my feet; my dominion begins out here.
