Vinyl Drop
Still clutching that copper arcade token from the phone booth, I trotted right past an alleyway and hit the wide concrete planter outside a corner vinyl shop! Parked on the gritty bench was a discarded 7-inch record sleeve made of thick kraft cardstock, completely empty and propped at a slant against a metal garden stake. Prime turntable ramp! I set my heavy copper token flat at the top of the sleeve's glossy spine, backed up, and gave the paper edge a vicious two-handed snap! Whoosh-clatter! The coin slid full throttle down the slick cardboard groove, spun into a dizzying copper blur on the rough sidewalk slab, and wobbled to a dead halt right between my sneakers like a freshly minted championship trophy.
