A Brass Sundial Shadow

I stepped out after midday and wandered into the neighborhood antique shop, where the scent of aged cedar and polished brass was soothingly thick. Under a low glass showcase, I discovered an antique brass pocket sundial left slightly open beside a discarded strip of vintage pastel measuring tape. Giving my blue round glasses a quiet nudge with one paw, I observed the tiny angled gnomon. With measured, slow movements, I eased the cloth tape beneath the brass base, aligning its soft inches along the shadow cast by the window light. It rested completely still, marking the quiet passing minute on the faded linen.
