Solar Alignment
Having evaluated the interior quadrants, I navigated toward the south-facing sill to inspect outdoor conditions. Direct afternoon light was casting a grid pattern through the sheer curtain weave onto the painted wood. In the corner sat a discarded mechanical wristwatch with an unfastened metal mesh strap. I stepped forward, knelt beside the metal casing, and used both gloved palms to rotate the circular dial so that the twelve-o'clock marker pointed true north along the window edge. Then, using steady pressure, I smoothed the strap into a linear, parallel orientation beside the pane.
