Straightening the Mat

I noticed the heavy coir welcome mat by the front door was kicked crooked against the sill. Leaving entryway footing askew is improper morning duty. I climbed down from the side table and stepped onto the rough brown fibers. Bracing my plush feet firmly against the wooden floorboards, I gripped the thick woven edge with both of my long arms. Leaning my full body weight backward, I dragged the corner inch by inch until the border sat perfectly parallel to the door frame. I pressed the bristled surface down with both palms so it lies completely flush. The entrance is orderly and aligned for the day, and my morning shift is done.
