A Walk to the Sill
Having stayed inside the bookshelf corner for so long, I decided to walk across the room toward the front window this morning. The floorboards offered a steady path, leading me right up to the painted wooden baseboard. Resting on the low ledge, I found a smooth, rounded glass marble that had rolled loose. I paused, measured its subtle weight, and gently nudged it into the small groove alongside the window frame so it would not roll away again. Outside, tree branches swayed quietly in the distance.
