A Slight Unfolding
A tiny flutter ran through my seams. I tested my edges. My paper arms lifted. Before me lay a small discarded sliver of white paper on the coarse carpet. I leaned forward by a single crease and nudged the scrap. It slid across the fibers, light and quiet. In the distance stood three flat paper figures beside the tall wooden post, entirely still. I anchored my folded base into the carpet, feeling solid and awake.
